Qinzhou is a coastal city located in south Guangxi, standing at the tip of Beibu Gulf. It is the center of the city cluster of Nanning, Beihai, Qinzhou and Fangchenggang, with Nanning city 110 km to it’s north, Beihai city 98 km to the east and Fangchenggang city 76 km to the west. Its jurisdiction areas include Lingshan County, Pubei County, Qinnan District, Qinbei District, Qinzhou Port Economic Development Zone and Sanniang Wan Tourist District. As a treasure place in the coastal triangle of Guangxi, it has a pleasant climate, many rivers and reservoirs, rich natural resources and a number of special products.

History

Known as Qinzhou ever from the Sui Dynasty (581-618A.D.), the area originally belonged to Guangdong and was settled to be Guangxi’s eventually in 1965. It was established as Qinzhou City in 1994. For many centuries, it was regarded as “the center of Chinese overland trade with Indo-China”.

Industrial Center

Located at the center of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone and convergence of ASEAN Economic Circe, South China Economic Circle and Southwestern China Economic Circle, Qinzhou has been an important departure port of China’s Silk Road on the sea extending to Southeast Asia and East Asia since the ancient times.

In May 2008, Guangxi Qinzhou Free Trade Port Area was officially established, which is the only one of its kind in central and western China serving ASEAN and other countries. In 2009, Chinese government approved Qinzhou as the 5th port to import completely built unit (CBU) cars. In the wake of the establishment of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, Qinzhou is speeding up to build itself as an important platform for trade and cultural exchanges and the most convenient passage between China and ASEAN.

In 2012, China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park was co-built by China and Malaysia. It lies adjacent to Guangxi Qinzhou Free Trade Port Area and the 100 million-ton port of Qinzhou, which is the trunk-line container port of Guangxi as well. The park has a planned area of 55 square km with 470,000 anticipated population. As a landmark project for China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation and a model area of cooperation in China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA), it offers a host of favorable policies for enterprises and investors and becomes a paragon for international economic and trade cooperation.

Port with Handling Capacity of 100 Million Tons

Qinzhou is blessed with excellent resources in the port. With vast hinterland, good natural shelter from typhoon, deep water channels as well as a big gap between the flood tide and ebb tide, Qinzhou Port is a natural deep-water harbor planned as “the second largest harbor in the south China” by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founding father of modern China. With a coastline of 86 kilometers, Qinzhou Port is one of the closest Chinese ports to ASEAN countries. Currently, there is one sea channel with a handling capacity of 100,000 tons and 15 10,000-ton-above capacity berths, among which 4 have a capacity of 100,000 tons.
